Kayaking the Blue Lakes

Blue lakes photo

On Saturday at 11:00 am, those who are interested are welcome to head over to Blue Lakes (located just across Highway 20 from Saratoga Springs) for some flat water kayaking. We will reserve the kayaks in advance from a local resort so please be sure to let us know if you are interested on the RSVP page. Rebecca’s brother John, an avid kayaker and outdoor education teacher, will lead the group. Please be aware of your own swimming abilities and judge your comfort level with this activity accordingly– we do not want any accidents on this happy day!

Don’t forget your swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and shoes that can get wet.

Bring along a sack lunch for a lakeside picnic.

Yeah, come on in, the water's fine.

About Blue Lakes

Blue lakes map

Swimming, sailing, rowing, canoeing, windsurfing, and fishing are popular activities on Blue Lakes, in the northwest portion of Lake County. Anglers will find trout, catfish, bluegill, and largemouth bass here. Because the use of power boats is limited to 5 mph on Blue Lakes, the pair of lakes offers a quiet environment for relaxation.

Beaches, boat launch ramps, shaded picnic areas, and hiking trails can be found at lodging facilities around the small lakes off Highway 20. Sitting at an elevation of 1,357 feet, the two lakes known as Upper Blue Lake and Lower Blue Lake cover 73 acres and 52 acres, respectively.
